Oftentimes when Tribes sign contracts with insurance companies, they also sign a limited waiver of sovereignty. This limited waiver places Tribes at risk and takes away the following:

  • Their right to self-government
  • Their nation-to-nation relations with the federal government
  • Places Tribes in the position to have nation-to-nation relations with state governments, which violates their sovereignty
